    Quilt Colors

I decided when originally ordering my Nunatak Specialist quilt to get it in 0.8oz Pertex Quantum. There were only two colors available, purple and black... so I chose to go with all black. After a few times of getting up at night, I discovered that I couldn't tell the inside from the outside, and often had the quilt twisted, when getting back into the hammock. Because of this I went with a colored exterior and a black interior on my latest order. I thought I'd mention this for anyone choosing quilt colors.... make life easy and choose two distinctly different colors for your quilt's surfaces.

This is a great tip! Sure would make it easier to get oriented in the dark.

On a similar note, when I make my new top quilt I think I'm going to sew a little strip of reflective material longways, right up the middle of the top covering. That way I'll be able to easily see when the quilt is centered over me.

When picking that second colour, stay away from primary green. Under red light it will also appear black and you will have the same problem.

I've had the short foot box inverted a couple of times, and the quilt looks identical if inside out. It's all the very same black material. Lately when getting out I try to keep it close to the way it was when I was in it. If the top half gets flipped over (twisted) it's difficult in the dark, and often even with a light, to tell the difference. I know it sound like it should be pretty basic, but getting up for that "break" in the middle of the night I'm not always at 100% when getting out of and returning to the BB.

Mine is Orange & Green, at night, even in bright moonlight, I can't tell the difference. I just "go with the flow" & feel for the foot box.

I guess white on one side & black on the other may make a difference. I do like the reflective strip idea. May add it to mine.

Yep. Green and black are the same color when using a red light.
