What about a biner through the MSH, serving both as the toggle and something to clip the loop through. But I don't know if that would be worth fooling with, the sticks work well enough, unless I had the biners with me anyway. But until I get some polyester webbing ( I guess what I have is Polypro), my main concern ( though not a great one) is the webbing on webbing "melting". I can get around that with a biner through both hugger loops, but then that is not nearly as convenient to use as webbing back through one loop, which cinches up against the tree. Staying in place while you make adjustments.
