Have you tried using a piece of bungie cord prusiked onto the line to add pressure to the bury? Seems like it might be easier than searching for rocks, but I don't know if it will apply enough pressure.

No, haven't tried a bungie for tension. Good idea! I get enough weight by stowing my backback gear in the sacks, so I haven't needed to supplement with rocks ... and the bags need to hang somewhere. So it's dual use!
The weight savings is in using a UCR instead of a whoopie. I wanted a shorter bury to allow a shorter adjustment length. I'm not a decigram weenie ... yet!
A second benefit is that your shorter bury length would let you hang between trees that are one foot closer together than my present bury length would allow. Probably doesn't matter, though, if your tarp length dominates the tree spacing requirement.

I thought about something like that. Some shockcord built into the back of the constrictor and prusiked onto the main line... I wonder if it would defeat the weight savings.
