Like I said in the other thread, I'm very jealous. Not so much from missing such beautiful scenery, but from missing out on meeting you all. I'll do my best to make it next time....

Looks like a great trip. Glad you all had a good time. I may try to make it there in the Spring, schedule permitting.

glad everyone had a great time. Did you just stay in one place or camp at different locations?

I really enjoyed my time in the Red River Gorge. The company was great and we had a good campsite, right on the creek. I liked hearing it gurgling while I was in my hammock. I was last to arrive around 5 p.m. on Friday. Dusk comes early when you are down between the ridgelines so I set about making camp. After that, a good fire was burning and everyone was making supper.

Saturday morning was spent talking and checking out equipment and standing around the fire. It got down to 23F during the night. After lunch, animalcontrol, Clint, Gabe and I decided to do a little dayhike. We hiked out to the car and drove a short way up the road to another trailhead. We hiked up Bison Way Trail to the Sheltowee Trace Trail, then took an unmarked trail to the base of Indian Staircase.

Indian Staircase starts out as a jumble of rocks and roots up to a small rock house, then continues up some smooth sandstone faces to the top. The views were terrific and the day was sunny and warm. We took another unmarked trail to the east to return to Bison Way. I think it was about a 3 mile round trip.

By the time we got to the car it was time to head back. After hiking back to camp it was just starting to get dark. Supper and more campfire time! Saturday night saw a low of 27F and it was only 29F when I was striking camp at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Four of us hiked out together, Mule, animalcontrol, Gabe and myself. We parted ways after a little time in the parking lot and I headed to the east side of the area to see a few of the arches. Most are just down some short trails from the road. After that it time for the long drive home.

There are a few more general scenery pics included in my Flickr photoset.

Amazing rock structures there! I love to see stuff like in pictures 5 & 6 of Jerry's pictures, and then Whistling Arch.
I sure hope to get out there some day!

This coming weekend is out, but pretty much "U pick, we hike" when it comes to RRG. I haven't been to IS in about 8 months And I have only been to RRG for a measly total of about 10 days this year

BTW, I can't find the cord to connect the camera to the puter. It IS somewhere in my car, just can't find it.

Still working on the video have a few glitches to get worked out. It's not as entertaining as Shug's but it show a good time was had by all.
