I will be doing a written journal, but will be "checking in" quite a lot here on the forum and do little trip reports I would like to stay in touch with the upcoming gatherings that might be happening out that way
I also gotta say that when I wear my fleece balaclava, I often find that I end up being too warm on my face, so I take it off my nose. I'm no scientist, but it seems like maybe the balaclava is retaining enough heat to help warm the rest of my face without it being over my nose.
I really prefer to use my buff over my face (I think mine is coolmax?). I kinda feel a bit claustrophobic with the fleece over my nose, where I don't with the buff. The buff seems to be toasty enough to me, with my warm breath in there. It seems to dry faster than the fleece as well.
btw, years ago I tried one of those neoprene face mask thingies. UG! It was aweful!!
Enjoy your new quilt! It really looks SO wonderful!!
I use this facemask:
It's neofleece, but has airholes for the mouth and a nose opening...keeps the wind off the nose but lets out the moisture. I can't stand sleeping with stuff over my mouth...even if it's not tight I feel like I'm suffocating. This facemask works for me. They make a few combos with the same facemask on a scarf, full balaclava, etc.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
Whoooooo buddy Sarahgirl is good to go AT'ing!!!!!!
As to the probuscis ..... I have a really cool, all soft fleece facemask with an open mouth and it covers the nose. Velcro in back. Comfy and warm. Got it ages ago from Campmor I think. Would be a cinch to make. I never really liked the fleece-lined neoprene ... it was just to "heavy" on my face. But I have one for back-up.
