I am also intrigued about this diy sealing. Is there a problem with the thinned silicon/mineral spirit solution being overly sticky after it dries/cures? I read a tip about powdering the seam with cornstarch/babypowder to keep the sealed seam from sticking to everything while folding/unfolding.

on another note... i sure did use the back/slash key alot in this post.

For the perfectionist, maybe. The baby powder thing works fine, but so does one night of use. There is enough dust blowing around on any given night that any stickiness is usually gone the next morning. When I seal my tarps, I usually just leave them set-up for a day before I pack it back away. Never had any sticky issues when packing it up the next day.

I agree with Cannibal. Dust will settle and help with the stickiness. But, if you're like me and don't want to leave it sitting out long enough to get dusty enough, I use powder on a washcloth. Takes about a minute.

Do I need to seal my never used Speer Winter tarp? If so, prior to first use?

    Thanks in advance?

Don't have to if you don't want to. Ed seals them before they are shipped.
