I like the Singer #20. Among the several that dad has, is a #20 with an electric motor. He says it was for young ladies to take with them to college.

    Singer 201-2

Got a new member of the family today.... I haven't cleaned/oiled her up yet but it doesn't appear to need much of either... its in great shape and its electric. Groundhog found it in my area on craigslist and we went to check it out today... needless to say....It came home with me for $125.00 The desk is in pretty good shape and the accessories that came with it look very interesting.. I have a lot to learn about some of those and I may post some pics later if I can't find out any info on the web. Here she is...

Some more of that "serious negotiations" he referred to in an earlier post...

Credit where credit is due....."gmcttr" found it and alerted me about it... and the rest as they say, was some "serious negotiations".

Re: Show Us Yor Thread Injector

I'm looking at upgrading mine, the cost to repair and it's inability to sew through heavy fabrics has become a problem. I'm considering the Singer CG590. Any thoughts or comments?

I thought it had promise...glad to help.

I bought this 1935 Singer 15-91 some time back. It was advertised as a parts machine, picture taken on a stump with straw around and on it. Bought it cheap hoping it would run again. Turns out mechanically it was in great shape. The clearcoat was another story...probably UV damage from sitting in a south window for a few decades. The more I tried to clean it, the worse it looked. I set it aside only to pull it back out a few days ago.

Worst of the loose dust, dirt and straw cleaned off...

Yesterday, the paint is as good as it's going to get (looks better in the photo than it is), the motor has been cleaned out...

    Tonight it stitches beautifully...

    So now I have three 15-91's, a 15-90, two 201-2's, two 401A's and a 221k...all Singers.

Got my eye an a Necchi next.....yeah I need another machine bad....sort of like the hammock addiction.

That's a great looking restoration! It's amazing what these machines can go through and still function with their original precision.

Here is the machine I use. It belongs to my wife, she got it from her great grandmother. It has a million different knobs and handles, but I found some all-round settings... Currently working on redusing my diuble diy hammock into a single layer, and adding some sides for more widht.

Nice. I haven't had the pleasure of using a Bernina machine yet.

While the "old" Singers are very good machines, one reason for their popularity is that there were millions and millions of them made worldwide and therefore are readily available.

From what little I know, Bernina's are a high quality machine. Is that a 730?
