That can be a challenge, Unfortunately the HH straps are made with the intent that they will work for everyone every where, sometimes that just does not work out. Straps that are of adequate length for the areas that you normally hang in are the best solution. Another would be our Suspension Extensions that can be added to the straps to extend them a little longer when needed, they are not meant to be used directly against the tree but if you "Pad" them with some sticks or bark from a downed tree you should be able to make some larger trees an option with straps that come up short.

And you even gave me credit for how to attach the whoopie to a Hennessey. Thanks.

[QUOTE=jdm80;190389]The slings I bought from Opie showed up today (ordered them Friday night - awesome service!!!) and in less than 30 minutes I had the stock HH suspension removed and my new black whoopie sling suspension installed. Ken's video was crystal clear in how to tie it off and it worked great. The little nylon Hennessy knot covers are back on (had to go buy some black cable ties to keep it looking stock...) and then I did a quick test hang - no problems.

Will the loops that come with the JRB all in one whoopie sling suspension be the right length to convert the HH in this manner? Also, is it necessary to put the knot cover back on after making the conversion? Is this just for looks, or does it have a key function to retard rain drops?

Thanks for the very helpful video, Ken!

    1-yes
2- not necessary I suppose, but I put the cover back over but did not zip-tie them on yet. It looks a lot better with them on.
3-It keeps the rain off if the snakeskins are not covering them, less water absorbtion.

I am new to the forums and love this video. I would love to make my own slings for my Ultralite A-sym backpacker.

What length did you start with? Where should I go to get the Amsteel? Is it available in other colors?

We use 13' feet of line for a 6' whoopie sling. Times 2 for the pair. reddenmarine.com has your Amsteel. We use 7/64". Use coupon code of "hammockforum" at checkout for a good discount.
