    WTB: Good tarp, good price

My son got a skeeter beater for Christmas and I've been looking all over for a cheap, lightweight tarp for him. He wants something that he can hang out under but won't break the bank.

If anyone has any "extra" tarps in their gear closet that they would care to sell, it would be put to good use!

    Thanks

I'm not sure. I've got a GG 12x12 that works well for me, but would probably be a little big/heavy for him. I guess a 9x9 hung on a diagonal or a med hex tarp would do the trick. He's 14 and is gathering his gear over the next couple of years for a thru hike of the Sheltowee Trace.

I know: cheap, light, large...pick two. That's why I suggested we look for a tarp that has some experience to cut down on cost while getting a little larger or lighter.

    Thanks!

I was asking because I have a no-name coated nylon test/prototype- 5x9, with ribbon corner loops- needs seam sealing, but keeps most of the rain off as is- just minimal coverage; happy to send it along if he needs something to experiment with.

PS.- colors are green/cream/green; ie. 3 x 1 yard section each of two types of fabric- so only 2 seams, going crossways.

You should also check out www.mosquitohammock.com. They have some very good prices on tarps. Not quite as light as silnylon, but still in a pretty good weight range.

Thanks, KM. That will definitely give him something to experiment with.

It there are some tarp hoarders out there that could offload a tarp for some extra spending money, let me know!

BD... I have one of these..

    http://www.bigrockoutfitters.com/ind...0490380914eb5e

Brand new never set up 12x10 green in a brand new granite gear #4 green stuff sack. I even just dug out the OE stuff sack it came in.

Ill let it go for $50 plus shipping. Im pretty sure I can get it into one of the $8 priority mail boxes.

Its not light... But its big and it will keep you dry. And best of all, Its made right here in the US of A.

I have a used Speer Winter tarp I'd let go for a reasonable price. I got it in a group buy last year so would make you a nice price. It is brown.

Mrprez -- IF Bdpalace is not interested in your used Speer, I sure might be. I'm new to the hanging game and don't yet have a tarp but think that one might work well here in the Rockies. Thanks a bunch!
