    How are you attaching the webbing on the other end? Most method I've seen are slower than the buckles, even though you really only need fine adjustment on one end.

    Using the wrap-around-and-turn-back-again lashing from Jeff's site -I think is where I saw it- it distributes the force over a larger area of tree back- I hate leaving marks, and this is just my testing setup- it goes up and down frequently.
