    Ridgeline

I am trying to attach a ridgeline to my Claytor Expedetion hammock. Can it be attached under the netting or it has to be done above the netting?

    Thank you,

    Corsican

Glad you decided to post, Corsican. I moved this to its own thread so it'll be easier for folks to find in the future. Hopefully someone here with a Claytor can give you a useful answer.

i don't know about the claytor, but it seems it is more beneficial to have the ridgeline on the outside. as somebody pointed out recently, it seems the best advantage of the fixed ridgeline is that it allows you to keep enough sag in the hammock without having to climb the tree to hang your tree straps. on close trees this should not be a problem,(getting the straps high enough), but if you get to a campsite and want to hang from trees that are far apart, you can just pull out your riggeline which you normally don't even use, and just slip it on over your support ropes, it could be tied with loops in each end, so there would be no hardware needed, and now you have just extended your options with regard to tree distance.

Use it on the outside, it can help keep the netting up and eliminates having to use the current stretch cords. Works the same with the Claytor as any other hammock. One of my hanging friends uses one this way. You can still use a stick to spread the net if you want

You can put a ridgeline on a claytor by poking a hole thru the bugnet and passing the ridgeline thru the hole. Ive done it on my claytor clone. A ridgeline inside the bugnet has a lot of uses. please follow this link http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...&searchid=1174 or see my gallery.
