    Painted Nite Ize Figure 9

I looked all around town for black small Nite Ize Figure 9's for my tarp ridge line and all I found was silver, which I really didn't want since 80% of my camping is at locations where I shouldn't be so things like color and reflectivity is a big issue to me.

So I got some Brown Ultra Flat Krylon camouflage spray paint. I don't know about other paint but this stuff worked great and it doesn't come off easy at all but I doubt that the finish would be as good as a factory one.

I did two light coats of paint on each side with an hour drying time in between.

You actually DID want the silver ones, since they are made of metal and seem more duarable. The black ones are plastic.

I am pretty sure that they make the metal ones in black now. http://www.niteize.com/collections/f...gure-9-small-1 http://www.rei.com/product/765518

There were some black metal ones also. Not sure if they're still available, but I have a few.

Interesting. I 'assumed' that all the black ones were plastic, since I know they did make them from plastic for a while.

    My mistake.

I've got a few of the black metal Figure 9's as well. They're left over from when I was still using Figure 9's with my setup. I may still put them to use for car camping, but for backpacking trips, I don't use them at all anymore.

Speaking of backpacking trips, guess who's got right at 2 weeks left before heading to Springer for the first backacking trip of the year? I won't mention any names, but his initials are Hooch. With any luck, I'll have the Georgia section of the AT done by the end of May at the latest.

BTW, Widerstand, those look pretty doggone good, almost professional. Find job you did on those.

I don't know anyone with the initials Hooch. J/k. I'm jealous.

here is a place where you can order them for $1.85 (http://www.batteryjunction.com/f9s--02-01.html ). If you order 10+ they will be $1.60. I hope this helps.
