Big Bend: The Movie Part 8 - Hot Spring

This is where we got to see how the river dominates the Big Bend area, far more than the mountains. The Mexicans who live right across the Rio Bravo del Norte (original Spanish name for the Rio Grande) are essentially hemmed in by the USA to the north, and the Chihuahuan desert to the south. I feel certain that the honor system displays of wares are an important part of their economy. For me, this portion of the trip marks the beginning of 450 miles of riding in the desert. It was a wonderful way to see Big Bend!

You are very correct, sir. In October a buddy and I hiked the Dodson Trail. It was in the 90's during the day and was, indeed, quite a hike. We ended up doing most of it at night just to avoid the heat.
