    Aluminum Arrow Shafts...Booyaaaah

Just wanted to let that out to someone who would appreciate it.

I just scored a couple of aluminum arrow shafts from the local archery store for marlin spikes and toggles. Now to cut them into little sections and clean up the edges.

I'm thinking 3" sections will work or will shorter be OK? 2" ?

Beautiful stuff! I got some discards from a friend: Easton 7075-T9 alloy.

The diameter is too small for me to use it on my hammock though. Cordage does not perform well when bent and I aim for a D:d (toggle diameter to cord diameter) of at least 5:1.

Well, I once finished off a jar of apricot preserves that was 5 years past the exp date. Did have a bit of a kick to it... .

The apricots in jars in our house have a kick to them, and it's entirely intentional!

My grandfather used to make cordial.

He would just add some sugar and vodka to a jar of berries or some other fruit. As I recall it aged very nicely and the natural yeasts on the fruit became involved in the process.

    Good stuff!

Made six today from 2118 easton shafts. 3" works for me. After cutting with a small pipe cutter, smoothed out the rough ends with a reloader's chamfer and deburring tool. Makes for a nice smooth finish.
