Bly Gap NC - Neels Gap GA March

    Hey everyone,

Just got back from a trip... need to show some pics, tell some stories, and give some thanks...

First off, thank you to Stormcrow for a very balmy UQ and OQ... The incubator worked great and the Burrow was a warmth machine... Thank you for getting it to us Adam...

Thank you also to the folks at AntiGravity Gear... The Fosters cone set up was spectacular... Gary, also thank you for the pocket reference profile map of GA... Worked great and was used multiple times daily...

Thank you PGibson... Paul the biners and micro biners worked great with my quick adjust clips on my ridgeline for the tarps...Also showed off your Gravity filter to everyone we saw at the shelters... They seemed to love it as much as I dont like pumping...

Finally, Thank you to SarahGirl,,, AKA Snowwhite for the loaner hammock.. We have a CONVERT now everyone... I used the clark that was sent but my wife used the Hyperlite and said she has never..I repeat NEVER slept so comfortably... YEAHHHHH...

Ok now that the thanking is over. some pics and stories...

First off we drove to GA and stayed at the Hiker Hostel with Josh and Leigh... Great place to start any trip in GA...

We got shuttled to three miles south of the NC/GA Border by Joyce... Great time and great stories...

We hiked 8 miles the first day to the border and then turned SOBO and hiked to Plumorchard Gap Shelter... Discussed gear and set up the hammocks.

We then went up and over some mountains and did 10 miles on day two... The wife got sick and we had to slow it down the second half of the day...

The Third day we went up and over three mountains... Tray, Rocky, and Blue... for a total of 14 miles and stayed at the Blue Mountain Shelter...

The last day we didnt take many photos... we hiked around 7 miles to Low Gap Shelter where we ate and I discussed hammocks and gear with others... I am a Gear Head...I know...

We pushed on that day another 11 miles to finish up GA at Neels Gap.. We had finished NOBO to that point last year...

Thank you agian everyone for the help with the trip.. We hiked many miles and much talk about life was done... Nothing like some days in the woods to clear the mind and talk about what makes you tick...

That's a great section, I've done it several times both NOBO and SOBO. That day where you did Tray, Rocky, and Blue must have been a killer. Tray and Rocky usually kick my butt alone!

This was a picture from a January 2005 hike at Low Gap shelter. My hiking buddies call it "Hammock Birthing"...

Glad you had a good walk!

I don't know if you are aware of this but if that is josh's VW bus, it was originally owned by Earl Shaffer the first AT thru hiker.

Nope, wish it was, Josh's Bus is still in the shop. Man that would have been a bit of history though...

Wow he said it w should have been done when i was there 3 weeks ago. The problem with having a bus workedon is you are at their mercy. Next time you go it shoudl be done. Did you use the mini quilts in the clark and how did it work out for you?
