Ahh, to see the world thru a child's eyes. All the excitement, wonder. I loved her description of the hammock. You've got a smart one there, hangnout. Cute as a button, too. Memories you will both share forever.
    Great job.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Believe it or not she is a little shy and the comments have encouraged her to show the video to her class.

It is wonderful no matter what you are doing,
You got that right. She came into our lives when she was 2 yrs old about the time that my oldest daughter was starting high school. It was a change that has been worth every minute. Hope to see you on the trail again. Enjoyed the short time we met on the Pinhoti. Have fun with your daughter when you get to do the canoe/hike thing.

2sticks is a natural born natural!!!!!! She was so comfortable in the woods .... swear I heard her say tents on the ground were boring!
Yep, it kind of blended into the transition but her words were "totally boring". None of this was scripted, just edited. When we tried to script something it did not work so I just let the camera roll. Tried to get her to say "whoo buddy" a couple times but she said "why would I want to do something that somebody else does".

Loved the shot of the dog trying to decide to take that swinging bridge!
We thought some people would enjoy that

Sometimes I wonder what is going on in her head.
She has only slept in a tent once. All the other camping trips have been in a hammock.

Showed this to my daughter ... my non-camping daughter ... she got a kick out of it. Enjoy your time with her ... they do grow up fast!

Hangnout, You are in the midst of "the Good Ole Days"! Savor every moment. You've sure got a smart, pretty, energetic, observant, interesting, athletic, etc., etc., daughter. And she sure does love her Daddy! Life is good!

    Thumbs up

WOW, how neat! And they do grow up fast. I've got three daughters and my "baby" will be 22 next month. I've enjoyed hiking on the AT with each of them.

Thanks so much for sharing. I love seeing a dad sharing such great experiences with his kids. The world needs more of that.

You gonna get that girl some hiking poles?! She sure used that stick a lot.

Her class is gonna love that video! May I ask what you used to edit it?

Flipshare software that came with the camera. It was really easy to edit the clips and put together. The camera was a Flip Ultra. I shot about 40 minutes of video and the batteries were still almost at full power. Really good camera and software for new users.

Great report Hangnout, wonderful to see your daughter enjoy the woods, hiking and all the rest, my oldest (8) she loves to go hiking and camping, still trying to work out the whole hammock w/ bug netting thing for her, but your vid gave me an idea!

Thanks for the comments. This hammock is 2 layers with the sides open. I just tuck the netting between the layers at night. I like the bridge hammocks for younger kids because you can control the bottom insulation so well.
