I see pretty much everyone is using shock chord for guys and a ridgeline. What are the thoughts on rigid rigging, like parachord/550? Or 1/16-1/8" kernmantle? Maybe I am not up on things but wouldn't the stretchy shock chord, especially used as a guy line on the hammock, let things sway in the breeze? I suppose if things shift over night the shock chord still maintains some tension, as opposed to a rigid line... It still isn't quite "anchoring" though.
I'm not sure what you are referring to. I don't think anyone is using shock cord for anything but anchoring the sides of some hammocks. I would be astonished if anyone was using it for a ridgeline. Hammocks don't sway that much even without guylines. Some people might use shock cord for tarp tensioners, but I think that's mostly reserved for stronger, less stretchy materials.
The only other application I can think of off the top of my head is using shock cord for panel pullouts, because they don't need to be particularly taut.
Take my word for what it is, I'm only imparting to you what I have gathered from a ridiculous amount of reading and obsessing.

My hammock arrived today! Now I need a trial run... I should be headed out this weekend, but there might be a wrench that gets thrown in the works with work. We'll see what happens. I have something I am committed to Saturday morning/early afternoon so I will not be working then, but if work gets in the way that may take out my over-night trial run for the rest of the weekend. We'll see if I get yelled at tomorrow and then see where the weekend lands...
First impressions - super light and good quality construction (from what I can tell). I have yet to hang myself though. I just stretched it out between some furnature to check it out, can't hold any weight like that.
if you are looking for the most versatile set up i would go with a diy set up. this would give you the ability to customize your hammock/tarp size.
