    Wilderness First Aid hang- NC

Here are the information and requirements for those that want certification. For the CPR prerequisite, I know that there is a quick CPR class that is mostly several hours of video and classwork online with a 30-45 minute skills check with an instructor. I'm getting more information about it, but it might be an option for those of you that want to have the CPR done quickly. More information coming.

    Dates: April 30, May 1,2 of 2010
Location: TBD, I'm taking suggestions. I'll be traveling back from being in Charlotte earlier in the week, so anywhere within a days drive would be okay for me.

We'll need at least 6 people to attend (besides me) to make the class work well. If you know you can make these dates and are interested in attending, post it here, so I'll know what to expect.

So w/ the book ($15.99) & the fee ($4.00), the cost of the class will be $20.00?

I have the definitive numbers. The books are $15.95, and I'd expect you to bring them yourself, and the fee will be $6 collected during class. So, yes the total cost of the class would be $21.95 in money. I'll make sure you use up some first aid supplies, so you'll need to restock the kit afterward, so there are some hidden costs.

Yes, the cost is cheap because I'm volunteering my time to the class.

It looks like our site will be in the Pisgah National Forest, outside of Brevard, NC, which is somewhere near Ashville, NC.

I wanted to let people know that they can come and hang with us without taking the class. Come and spend some quality outdoors time with like minded people.

I might have my wife convinced to let me go since I told her that it is a wilderness first aid class. As time gets closer I will be able to tell if I am certain in going. It is tough right now in making plans for the future with our new little girl just being born. But I am definitely interested and Pisgah is not too far at all from Knoxville.

I added a poll to the thread to gauge the level of interest in the hang. I've had to postpone the Texas hang because there were too few people interested in going. Please add your interest to the poll and feel free to add a comment if you need to clarify anything. We'll need at least 6 people to make the class a reality. Not everyone will need to sign up for the class, because we can use some people as bystanders or victims. This will be educational, but it will also be very fun.

Im really interested, but that is right after the SEHHA. I don't know about two trips to the Mountains in less than two weeks. Never know though.

Considering my unemployment & the possibilities of a new & unknown job, I can't really make a commitment just yet, but I will be doing my best to attend.
I know you need commitments, so I'll try to do so just as soon as I can. I hope the response is good.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
