    Got some fabric, need a project . . .

I was in Wal-Mart picking up some oil for my car because the light had blinked on as I left work. The car burns oil so I figured I should pick some up. After grabbing my oil I headed towards the food section to grab some munchies. This takes me directly past the fabric section. As I walked past, an older woman knocked over some fabric while she was looking through. I reached down to pick it up for her and realized I held ripstop nylon in my hand. This is the same store that told me they had never had ripstop of any kind. I bought all that was left (5 yds.). I came home and weighed it at 9.9 oz. A quick measurement put it at 64" wide, so it seems to be the 1.1 oz. variety. I'm small enough that this might work for a hammock, but I'd rather be safe with 1.9 oz. That leaves my other two projects, a quilt and an underquilt. I'm thinking I'll make a quilt first so that I can get away from my bag (what a pain to use it in the hammock). My RidgeRest is less of a problem than the bag at the moment. Does anyone have any directions for a synthetic quilt? I've seen some, but I was wondering there was one that held in high regard other than Jardine's.

Yes, it just came in today. I haven't had a chance to open it up and give it a try yet, but it's here. I noticed that it cost you more than $5 to ship, do you need me to send more?

    Thanks for the link HeadChange4U.

No its no problem. I thought I could send it cheaper, but the post office said that way was better, no big deal.

I saw this one but don't know anything about it. It's a project I'll be working on soon enough, too. Let us know how yours turns out.

T-Dubs, those directions look good to me. Real simple. I don't think I'll even need to do the actual quilting to hold the insulation in place since I will be using Climashield. It's just one continuous piece and should just need sewed down on the edges. I could be wrong about this though. Anyone know for sure?

I still think I'd put in a few quilting loops, especially up near the face. You will most likely get some air in there that will balloon up when you move. I had that problem with a quilt I bought that didn't have quilting loops.

That's what I was thinking. Without quilting you might just get a great big balloon.

If you then filled your quilt with helium, it would be lighter, right?
