If they are 1.5" darts, and there are 10 on each side, then add 15" to the length.

If there are 3 such darts on each end, add 4.5 inches to the width at the ends.

    Izzat better?

Sounds good to me I guess

Also, should I dart each layer individually? or pin it all up and do it all together? (I can see how all together can result in some 'less-than-professional' appearance... I think -- But i'm known to be wrong)

Doing all these darts on 5 separate layers is a bit discouraging, but I'll do what I have to to make it work/look as good as possible.

Here's a good discussion on Darting an UQ, and there's a link there to a build thread:

So something else that just came up --- Do people generally prefer to cut out the triangles for the darts then sew them up, or pin it --> sew --> then trim excess?

I have thought about it, but never done it. Seems to me it would necessarily make your darts slightly larger than what you patterned.

I draw the triangle with a Sharpie so I can see it on either side, line them up and install two clips, sew right over the ink, then cut the excess.

Well I'll read through a couple of the UQ tutorials again and start making my quilt this weekend if all goes well! Thanks for the quick answers!

I'll be back I run into any snags along the way.
