Exped Hammocks -- Any of you heard of this company?

looks like you can turn the hammock upside down if
you do not want the net,

you can stick your hiking poles into 3 cloth channels to
expand the net size for a no touch space from insects

double floor for exped mat

it seems you can stick two poles on the sides and transform
the hammock to a flat lay system

or you have 4 tie outs to achieve a horizontal hammock

if I get some time I will take some pics from the thing in a high end
outdoor equipment place near my place....

OR was the distributor for Exped in the US until late last year when they decided to go back to being their own brand. I personally own and/or have used several pieces of their gear, and I can't say enough good things about them. Unfortunately their hammocks are not one of the pieces of gear I've owned, used, or know anyone that's used them.

edit: I'm not sure who's distributing for Exped or if they're doing it themselves. I'll ask the OR rep next time I see him.

I emailed my local outfitter friend. He has been in contact w/ a US Exped rep.
I'll let you know what I hear.
Not long ago Exped took care of an issue I was having w/ my DAM, I learned that Exped recently went through some changes, but I don't remember the details.

As I found out yesterday, and someone already pointed out, Exped is indeed doing it themselves. Unfortunately they're not being carried at my local outfitter anymore

I like the fact that Blue is from Switzerland... Maybe if it IS good he can arrange for some purchase and shipping of the elusive unavailable in NA product!!

Fishtar, that pic isn't the hammock sitting on the ground. Exped lumps their bivy bags, hammocks, and ponchos into a single product category. That's a pic of one of their bivy bags. Great marketing, eh? "Scout Hammock Combi" is also a REALLY bad name for the product since it makes it sound like you're getting a combo-pack of their scout hammock and a bugnet.

Nobody in North America seems to be selling/distributing the Scout Hammock Combi which is weird since everybody including REI, Campmor, etc have their pads. Maybe AHE needs to start distributing it!

The Tarp is sturdy.
I could not rip the thing apart the sales guy was watching ; )

Did you get to see one set up? What's the deal with the "3 fabric sleeves can be used to hold a stick or trekking pole"? Where are the sleeves? Are they just pockets for the ends of poles or full sleeves? What the heck is a "slit cord" or a "slitted rope"? I hate not being able to see one of these in use. I think it's too little for me, but it might be perfect for that little short person I married or one of the kids. Do the zippers look like they might be lockable from the outside?
