    Gear Storage

Where does everyone place their pack, boots, etc when hanging for the night?

I've seen some mini hammocks that are intended to be hung below the sleeping hammock which seems like a good storage method. Not sure if it's worth the added weight though.

What do you do with your gear?

Pack: Either under the hammock or attached to the whoppie sling, either way has a rain jacket over it. Shoes: Dry- over hammock ridgeline, wet: Whoppie sling suspension. The shoes are also seasonal, in the winter i put them inside a garbage bag and sleep with them between my legs to keep them from being rock hard frozen when i wakeup. All my other gear including clothes/breakfeast/hygiene for the next day goes inside my WBBB gearshelf.

I'm sorry for the off topic post, but this is literally the 3rd question that I thought about posting today that someone beat me to!!!

I usually clip my pack to the head end of the hammock, and leave the stuff in there. I tie my shoelaces together and sling them over the hammock support at the foot end, or over the ridgeline at the foot end.

Sometimes, I just stick everything into my pack liner (garbage bag) and set it under my hammock.

Other times, when I bring a jacket and pack cover instead of the Packa, my pack cover is the JRB Gear Hammock (link in my sig block) so I put my stuff in there. I always have that when my kids come with me, so we use it sometimes.

I usually hang stuff off my hammock's suspension line. Under the tarp in bad weather. In cold weather I leave my shoes/boots right on the ground where I swing my legs out for easy middle-of-the-night access. When the bugs come out I sling 'em over my ridgeline.

Tried the gear hammock, it was not for ME.

What I do: everything not needing dried goes in the pack, the boots sometimes are left on the ground, sometimes hung from the Whoopie slings (or other suspension.). My pack is hung from the Whoopie sling at the head end of the hammock. My camp shoes are on the ground ready for quick donning. As they are only 6.25 Oz combined I fear that some day they will blow away
Wet clothing gets hung from my tarp ridgeline inside the tarp, usually at the foot end of the tarp, but not always.
Except for my shoes, everything is always off the ground, cause "the ground is only for walking on!"

When I canoe camp, I like a gear hammock. It helps me to keep things organized and off the ground. I am going to make one that is a little more sturdy that I can use as a chair as well. Backpacking, I hang my pack.

Shoes go on my straps. My pack hangs from my straps where they go around the tree. And in my hammock it my 2QZQ RL organizer. I also ordered one of their peak bags last weekend. Oh yeah, the shelf in my BB too.
