    One Month Later

I have been sleeping in my Blackbird 1.7 Dbl hammock now for 30 nights. I am extremely pleased with the Blackbird. Although this is the only type of hammock I have ever used.
I love how simple it is to set up and take down. How it holds you in whatever position you turn. It is more comfortable than my foam mattress, and my wife loves the fact that she has the bed all to her self
The ridgeline is a great place to hang my small radio, light, and glasses. The Shelf holds more than you think and is perfect for my alarm clock, slippers, baccalava, house keys, book, etc. The foot box is essential I think to sleeping comfortably, great design.
The only thing that gives me trouble is when loosening the buckles. It is really difficult, but on the other hand, it is really secure and won't slip in the middle of the night. Speaking of the suspension, the straps only stretched out once and haven't since.
Another thing, when packing, the hammock will compress down to the size of a big soda can in a extra small compression sack if you so desire. You could also put it in along with your sleeping bag in your sleeping bag's compression sack.
I haven't had a chance to camp this spring yet but I CAN"T WAIT!

try spreading the buckles apart about a 1/2" with your fingers and tilting them back so they're pointing toward sky/ground (rather than toward hammock/tree) doing that to tighten or loosen should make the webbing slide through pretty smoothly

the first ones out didn't have that on the instructions

I found if you first tightened the buckle then pull back away from the tree it is easier. Remember when tightening to center the strapping in the buckle then slippage is very rare in my experience.
Great 1st hang report and improvising with what's available! Love the tip about putting things under the knees, So true... You'll fit in this group just fine... 30 days hanging, Outstanding!

    Back in the house

It's a sad day. I took down the BB because I was losing the battle with the spiders and bugs trying to make a home on the hammock.

They make an insulite pad that is 1/4" thick and 41" wide - specially for hammockers.

I've been told that you like down on it and get someone to trace around your body...then trim it to desired size.

The 1.7 Double BB is my favorite hammock. Thanks for the great report. It's good to see that you did your homework and ended up with the best, right out of the chute.
