I recently got one of Paul's Gravity Filters and cant wait to test it at the MAHA this weekend, Hey Greenlespaul you bringing that Steri Pen this weekend Id love to check it out. On a similar but kinda off topic question, how long does a hiker profilter last in a gravity filter, when do you know you need to replace it. IM heading to REI tommrow to buy mine And yes (just to stay on topic) according to pgibson, everything you experienced is normal, I had the same questions when I purcahsed his gravity filter.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

i'll bring it if i make it...not looking good for me...i have alot going on around the house dealing with building permits an the zoning officer...so i dunno if i'm coming or not

the hike filters are good for 200 gallons give or take a few...depends on the water...i would say change it out after the summer...

i just air dry my filter for a few days and store it in a ziplock bag...so far so good

you could clean it ....fill it up with water and add a few drops of bleach...let that drain through...then run clean water through to rinse out all the bleach and let it air dry for a few days ...

i plan on making a pre filter out of cheese cloth
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

NO! This is NOT normal. It most likely has a toxic defect! You should send it to me for prompt disposal!

Ok, you must be a katadyn rep. Shoot me the address and I'll get it right out to you.

Sorry Paul! I really wanted to just order one from you but I put it off too long and wanted one for the hoosier hang. Plus I like to tinker around a bit. I hope to get a glimpse of one of your UQ at the hang.
