I just went through this on my maccat deluxe. Google "paracord bundle". I use this method to store extra lengths of line I have laying around. I do this on my ridge line and all four tieouts. Works on triptease, paracord, spectra, etc. One pull and it all comes loose. Don't have to mess with extra parts either.

I was cleaning up the fridge last night and found an Arizona icetea gallon jug with absurdly thick sides that would work great for this and still be easily cut with some stout scissors... reduce, reuse, recycle and such

nicklendime,i tried using those same jugs,(unclear ones ?), to hold water in winter.they crack very easy in cold weather.for comparison all the clear juice jugs i used never cracked even when froze solid and bouncing and rolling around the back of my truck.

Redmarbleshoe had posted that he used kite handles. For me that would be too big and too much weight but I liked the idea and here is what I ended up with.

I've been home from work for about 30 minutes. I came home and made this, shot the pictures and posted in under 45 minutes. These are easy to make. I have 8 guy lines and 2 ridge lines so I'd need 10 of these. I can't imagine how 10 could weigh an ounce. They are feather light.

I have my lines tied with taunt line hitches but if I were installing these with a new tart, I'd drill a hole instead of the J slot and run my lines through them and allow them to stay fixed on my tarp. I just didn't want to have to untie and re-tie all my lines.

Planius you gave me the idea to use plastic as a base for my line holders. These are the easiest I've come up with as yet.
I was using elastic ties...I found these to be a PAIN

I was using the large jug of orange juice but thought it was too flexible.

"LUCKILY" I lost balance and fell on a STERLITE TOTE container.

A pretty big one. Well I busted that but thought the remnants may make good base material for the line holders

I trimmed them down so the holder doesn't interfere with the tarp...or as little as possible. I have pine resin on my hands from collecting pine tinder.

Planius pointed out the need for notches to hold the line.

I use BRAIDED MASON LINE from HOME DEPOT and such. Braided I can splice. I don't know if it is stronger or weaker than the non-braided mason line. I believe the mason line to break ~ 145 pounds.

add: I don't want the strength of the lines to be in the range of dynaglide, zing-it and such. I prefer the lines to be sacrificial and be the first to break, other than the tarp itself

I like Tom's added thought. The one time I tested my braided HD mason line, it broke somewhere around 90 ~ 95 pounds tension, IIRC. I'd expect a fair amount of variation from lot to lot.

Frawg, nice test result. Do you know if the line was braided or non-b?
    Wonder if there's a difference

Tom, it was braided. I never tried the twisted stuff, and there was a lot of difference in the 'feel' of lines I'd bought months apart. The spool labels may be the same, but the fiber content and factory standards seem to vary.

It was a very crude test, btw -- I just tied the line to a barbell and added weights until the line snapped.
