Anyone hang in Prince William Forrest Park, VA?

Camping there this weekend with the scouts.

Just wondering if anyone has ever hung their hammock there or knows the parks policy?

It is a national park and they have 3 different types of campgrounds listed, RV only, RV's and Tents, and Tents only. We're staying in one of the group camp sites that are listed as "Tents only" but that seems to be NO RV's to me.

I'll be arriving after dark so I could probably stealth hang if I had to.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission

Just make sure you use tree huggers so if a ranger comes to investigate you can show him how you've protected the trees.

I've been there with the scouts! What a fun place! The backcountry area is nice, if you want to get away from any crowds. Actually, they do specifically prohibit tying anything on the trees, but have relented when specifically asked about hammocks, especially with proper hanging technique and tree straps.

The backcountry area is full of bramble, but you can find good stealth sites very easily, if you want to go the forgiveness route. I tend to hang and tear-down very quickly, so it never becomes an issue. If you're staying for a few days, you could probably still take down during the day and set back up if you're worried about the rangers getting curious.
