new to hammocks and have prepared some mason line using the prusik method shown in the picture to use with a blue wally 8x10 tarp. I may end up using the first one with the taut hitch to avoid using biners though. awesome diagram, thanks! figure ill try everything with cheap materials to have the knowledge when im ready to upgrade.

You have some really sweet ideas. Thank for sharing your knowledge. I actually have seen this around for some time, but thought I should comment. By the way I got your book on Amazon and it's really good. Thanks mate.

Thanks Ghillieshot! I'm glad it worked for you.

Some folks have asked how to keep the tarp from slipping when setting up using the Dutch hook and tarp flyz method. After clipping on the hook and walking the tarp out, you next center the tarp by sliding it into position. Once centered, take the line and do a quick wrap around the antenna to hold the tarp. Now you can walk or reach the standing end around the tree and the tarp will stay in place. Finally, unhook the antenna and then cinch up the line normally.

On the inside portion of my tarp ridge line, I have two prusik knots. At the ends of the ridge line, I have mini-biners attached using bowline knots. All I have to do is wrap the ends around the trees/posts, attach the biners to the prusiks, and adjust the prusiks.

Separating the tarp from the hammock was such an epiphany: no more wet hammock, no more droopy tarp, no more tangled guy lines.
This looks like something I need to know how to do.

    All good
