I have a close-up picture of Beep's suspension on his rig from a hang a few weeks ago. I'll post the pic tonight. Paul's rings are the lightest I've come across but they are quite large in diameter. http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/1128958 I ended up getting the heavier 26 gram SMC rings (smaller diameter but thicker) only because I could get them locally. http://www.rei.com/product/799957

I added the ring as I watched water run down my whoopie ..... past the bury extension extra ... I had my weather shield on and the shockcord was resting on the whoopie larkshead at hammock whipping. Water got on the shockcord and went into my weathershield thus wetting my UQ. I now hooh the WS to ridgeline of hammock so that does not happen again.
The weight and bulk (really not much of either) are not an issue to me.
glad that I did as I now have no worry.

I use the Whoopie Slings and from the start I have used the tail end of the sling as a drip string as follows.

After adjusting the Whoopie Sling, I take the tail end and bring it back to the sling loop, put about 6" to 10" though the sling loop, wrap it around the sling once and back through the sling loop, pull the wrap tight and let the tail end hang down. That gives me 2 "strings" hanging down at that point.

By wrapping once around the sling, the tail end forms a dam on the sling at that point and forces the water down the 2 hanging "strings".

Got the idea from one of the hammock vendors that wraps their suspension line around a metal ring to stop water. I figure the dyneema should work as well as the metal ring.

Never had any problem. But then, like Dutch, it could be that I wouldn't have had a problem doing nothing either.

I got a set of these about 5 months or so ago from them, when I was using these with webbing for my suspension!

Yeah, those are the ones I was wanting to get but none of the REI stores in MN carry those in the store. You have to order them online. With shipping it's too much to pay for rings so I went with the heavier ones since they were readily available.

In any case those rings look sharp.

I think you can order online and get free delivery to the store...you just go pick it up.
