    material amount?

Gonna be doin some DIY hammock, tarp stuff soon and wanted to get somethin straight. Sold by the yard means I'll get 3ft by 60in for every yard ordered? I should use non coated ripstop for my hammock and coated nylon or silnylon for the tarp? I'm shopping for a stealthy pattern( marpat or tiger stripe).

"Sold by the yard" means linear yard along the edge of the fabric. So if the fabric is 60" wide then yes each yard will be 36" x 60". If the fabric is 44" wide then 36" x 44".
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
