    Nest UQ & Mat?

I'm hiking the AT in late May and just got a JrB Nest UQ and want to know should I also carry a sleeping pad for extra insulation or will the UQ be enough?

If you've got your top covered with either a sleeping bag or a quilt then I'd say you'll be fine.

No idea what the temps are gonna be though

Late May + Nest UQ? you should be fine.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I recently got the JRB Nest UQ and had it on the AT in GA about a month ago for it's inaugural trip. It got down to the high 30's at night. I used a 20 degree bag unzipped as a top quilt. Each night, I would wake up sweating and have to kick the bag off for a while (was wearing shorts and a long sleeve shirt).

All that to say, the Nest kept me VERY warm into the high 30's. I can't imagine you'll need more than the Nest and some type of top cover in late May.

Thanks guys. I may not have time to get in a pre-hike and test it. So I will leave the pad at home. That will save some weight. Thanks again.
