    First Hang report

My wife and I went this weekend to the Pinhoti Train in Alabama for our first overnight hang. We've been overnight before in our tent on the AT but never in our hammocks. The weather was perfect with overnight lows in the upper 50s. We stayed warm and comfortable, even without putting up our tarps. My wife slept in our new WBBB with a lightweight exercise mat slipped between the layers and she covered up with her Big Agnes 35. I didn't know how she would do since she had gotten in it several times at home but she loved it. I slept in my HH Expedition I bought from a fellow forum member with the under insulation blanket that comes with the Super Shelter. I covered up with my Big Agnes 40 and was plenty warm, almost too warm. Both are rigged with Whoopie Slings, tree huggers and toggles, with the slings hung on the knot, NOT the toggle. We were very pleased with our accomodations and probably won't go back to the ground.

Glad you had a great experience, the Pinhoti just jumped a notch or 2 on my bucket list...

    Thanks for sharing!

    To quote Shug

"Hang it on the KNOT, NOT the toggle"

Toggle just keeps the knot in place, it shouldn't bear the load from the whoopie, as the toggle can break.

Wouldn't want you to report back later with a tailbone fracture due to "toggle failure"...

We actually camped on the Cave Creek Trail. We started the PT at the trailhead near the State Park, went down the PT past McDill Point all the way to Odum Trail and back up by the Cave Creek Trail. Total about 12 1/2 miles. We traveled about 7 Saturday and finished back to trail head on Sunday. I've got more pics if you're interested.

BEAUTIFUL weekend for hiking. Me and my buddies started at Cheaha and went north last weekend. GREAT trail, flowers blooming, water running, animals everywhere, beautiful old growth forests. The only negative was a 3 mile stretch that was recently "control" burned, but I guess you have to put up with that sometimes if you want the long term health.
