I also have a Big A Lost Ranger bag. It's the long version. The other day i was packing for a trip, when i had a thought. If it has no bottom insulation why does it weigh 3 lbs. If all those two layers do is hold in the pad, why not just use a couple of straps, or some shock cord? How does the two layers of fabric weigh? Been thinking about performing some surgery on my bag to lighten it up since then. Or just get an over quilt.

    Food for thought.

I like it with my 3/4 UQ. I slip a piece of CCF pad into the foot end so my feet don't come off the pad through the Night. Its not that heavy for a 30* synthetic bag for around $100 though. Cheap equals heavy. IMHO
