I think Spidey does in fact sleep in his spider-hammock, and since he is a human being with spider strength and abilities, he isn't killed by neurologic poisoning like all of the other insects
(read-Super Bad Bugs ((SBB)) ).
I have treated my hammock and tarp with permethrin, and haven't experienced any problems so far, except for a more restful sleep which cuts into the time spent on the trail (less)...oh well, sometimes solo hiking is a good thingee.

I have not treated the huggers or full length of webbing. But I have treated either the suspension rope or webbing for a few inches right where they come out of the hammock, plus the last few inches of the hammock. And any other likely trouble spot. Seems to have worked.
