    Another NC Newbie

    Hi Y'all,

I'm from the north central Piedmont area of NC. I'm 52, 5' 10", about 230 lbs, married with a 16 yo son. I'm retired from Public Safety, but with the economy like it is, had to go back to work . I've been "lurking" for a month or two here and learning about "hanging". I'm not a newb to camping. I use a tarp shelter and sleeping on the ground isn't all that comfortable any more. Now, I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a set-up or make my own. But, I'm not sewing literate, nor do I have a sewing machine. So I need all the help I can get. And from what I've read/seen so far, there's a ton of info here. I've also been checking most of the hammock websites as well as ebay. Looking forward to learning all I can.

    Eric

Welcome to the forums! Fellow NCer out here near Asheville. I'm right there with you about wanting to make my own gear, but lacking the skills or equipment. Though, reading through the vast amount of information on this forum has made me courageous (or perhaps crazy) enough to give it a shot providing I can get my hands on a sewing machine... anyhow... nice to have ya!

Welcome to the fourms! North Carolina is well represented here in the forums. As NCPatrick said if you have any question just as them. Some here will almost always have the answer. Or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum, Eric. I'm between Charlotte and Gastonia near Lake Wylie. This is a great place with a lot of friendly, helpful people.

    Welcome!

Love the courthouse square in Graham. I have lunch in Mebane often, with friends who live at the sources of the Eno River.

Howdy, from the coast. A few of us hangers down this way, too.

    Mac,

Do you know they're remodeling the courthouse now?
