Nice project and good explanation. While I just completed my summer UQ, I may have to try this out some day. Thanks!

I know this has been somewhat ressurrected, but it is the first time I have seen it, and it looks like a great alternative for someone like me, trying to collect some gear on the cheap to get started! I think this coupled with a sleeping bag as a blanket may get me well on my way. Thanks!

You're welcome. I've built/sewn several of these now and I really like them. Adding a layer of insulation like clamashield is a great way to make them warmer without too much difficulty or cost.

awesome illustration, as usual. Might I humbly ask the weight on one of these?

A freshly weighed PLUQ in my gear closet comes in at 20 oz. This includes a layer or two of Insultex.
