    My Greenbrier River Trail Hang-up

I mtn. biked & camped the GRT in West Virginia for 3 nights 4 days.
The campsites have a picnic table & fire ring, some have a well pump, and 2 have 3-sided shelters. The campsites are all in the trees & have enough trees to hammock there. All are right next to the rail trail. Its peacefull and not crowded at the campsites. The trail is mostly shaded.
Choose your sites carefully for pump water and how close to the river you are. MP 28 campsite has 2 rope swings too. Swimming is mandatory.

I could have brought a lot less food. Marlington is Milepost 55 and was a good stop for lunch or dinner. (I stopped in during 'Pioneer Days' street fair & had an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner). A store @ MP 45 has drinks, beer, snacks, & makes pizza & sandwiches.

At MP 80 is Cass Scenic Railroad - you can ride the train up the mtn.

There are so many options of start & end points to choose from.
But be forwarned - NO CELLPHONE SERVICE.

I paddled that river twice, loved it, gorgeous country!! Sounds like a nice hike that could be minimal with the food and beer stops. Woo Hoo!
Revolution is about the need to re-evolve political, economic and social justice and power back into the hands of the people, preferably through legislation and policies that make human sense. That's what revolution is about. Revolution is not about shootouts.

Did you do the whole trail? If so, you passed within 8 miles of my house. Anybody else doing the trail, let me know, and I'll show you a great swimming hole and campsite on Anthony Creek near where it flows into the Greenbrier.

Cass to Sulpher spring and back 160miles

You live in a real nice country! I forgot my beer at Jack Horner's corner!!

I haven't figured out how to down load photos yet. I did download a couple on face book.

Marlington's street fair was a lot of fun. I hope I win one of the many guns being raffled.

    What MP was Anthony Creek?

Rained real hard on monday - ran into fellow NJ'ers and alot out of staters in that rain.
I guess the locals know when to come out of the rain.

The bridge at Anthony is about MP 19. The creek is downstream from the bridge about 1/4 mile, where it enters the river from the East (other side from the River Trail). Upstream on Anthony Creek about 5/8 mile is "Blue Hole". That area along the creek has recently been designated a Wilderness Area.

There's a tediously long poem that the newspaper prints occasionally (often in conjunction with Pioneer Days) called "There ain't no 'g' in Marlinton!"

Crash, The GRT is a rail tail is it not? I have ridden a few rail trails and really enjoy them. I may just have to check out the GRT. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Hurry up and figure out how to upload your pictures. I would really like to get a look at the trail.

How many pairs of underwear do you own? Do you refer to them as "extras", simply because you're not wearing all of them as we speak?

Hey Crash! Hope you didn't live up to your trail name! What's the railtrail like? Do you need a mountain bike for it?
