    new posts first!

i finally worked out how to put new posts first!!!!! im much happier with this option now that ive got going... at first i obviously wanted to see the question... but then after having been at it a while i just wanted to get straight to the most recent answer!!! WOOO!

is there anyway to do this but still keep the original question as the first post regardless of which way you look at the forum?

TN, I'm not quite sure what you are doing to get where you are. Here's what I do, FWIW -- I just click on "New Posts" or "Today's Posts" to get the current thread list, which orders the entries with the at the top.

There are three clickable places for each entry that I find useful.
    - The thread title takes you to the initial post, of course.
    - To its left, the white 'down carat' on a small orange button takes you to the first unread message in the thread.
    - In the 'last post' column, the white '>' on the orange button takes you to the last post (duh! ) in the thread.

There's more, but those are the features I use most.

Dunno if that helps you any.

i changed an option in the settings, which means that whenever i open a thread, the newest post appears at the top rather than at the last page...

trekkingnut changed the 'Thread Display Mode' to 'Linear - Newest First'.

That would drive me completely nuts, because you'd have to scroll down to find your place and read 'up' instead of down. I second Frawg's suggestions instead.

I always click the 'New Posts' button to get a list of all the threads with fresh activity. Then, I click the 'Go to first new post' button () beside each thread that I want to view from that list, and have each one open in a new 'tab'. Then, I just read through each tab.

When I'm done, if I haven't read every thread with new posts, I make sure to use the 'Mark All Read' function so that the 'New Posts' option is fresh when I come back.
