    Great rip stop find

Went to Walmart and just happened across a bunch of digital camo. I don't know the weight. It said,"unknown" as a description. I think it's treated too!

I put some water in it and it held for 15' without one drip. I bought all 14 yards for 1.50 per yard. She said they had it a long time.

Great find. I see a digital camo tarp or two in your future.

    Cheers

I bought some of the same about 6 weeks ago from wally here.
They had a lot of it.

Bought 8 yards of the stuff and they had more.
Just finished a shorty and going to build a longer one next week..

From what I can tell its 1.9 oz but weighs more like 2 oz.
I think it is DWR. Dont think I would build a tarp out of it personally.

I've buily a few tarps out of it with great success. I wouldnt think dwr would make a very breathable hammock.
It is waterproof and sturdy, just a little heavy.

is DWR the same as Pack Cloth (found some at Hancocks Fabrics) or is that something different? I was thinking of making a couple of hammocks and weight for these first couple would not be an issue.
Any ideas or thoughts on better material or links to purchase?

    try Outdoor wilderness fabrics

Look at "Supplex", it's DWR and breathable and would work well for hammocks. I've made kilts (since I wear them I'll call them skirts but they are made the same) with this fabric.

just in case you didn't find the acronym list; DWR is Durable Water Repellent- a treatment applied to the fabric; pack cloth (at Joann's?) is usually a sturdy fabric to take the abuse most (school) packs are subjected to; not to be confused with spectra/dyneema/silnylon cloth used for lightweight hiking packs.
    hope that helped! KM
