missed the michigan hang

I am not looking at a calendar right now, I am assuming that would be the third weekend, is that right? That may take me out of the picture also.

Well, it just may be thrown back into the hands of Questtrek and someone else. I guess we will have to see about that one.

To be date specific, the weekends of the 8th and 15th are out for me. I would be willing to consider another time. First of november is kinda fun too, just have to beat gun season.

depending on the weekend i might have to build a couple more hammocks for the kids but as long as the hiking isnt to far they can do it.

I've never been to a group hang. im game for end of october but I would need to make 2 quilts for insulation for me and the girlfriend. Would anyone be interested in maybe part of the midland to mackinaw trail? Even if its not as a group hang we could get some people from the thumb or bay area and do a hang.

Waz up? It appears that inquiring minds of fellow Michiganders and other hangers also want to know about the possibility of a 2010 Fall Michigan Hang.

There has been a couple of suggestions already, so I do believe there is some interest for such a get together.

ATTENTION: Since this a trip planning thread it needs to be conducted as such. I offer up the format that HawkEye has done with the Fall 2010 Linville Gorge Infestation. They have one thread that is for chit chat (All Things Gorge Rat), and what may become something that should be included into the Planning thread and after discussion and consideration may end up actually in the planning thread. The palnning thread is just that...a planning thread short and sweet with location and dates listed in the title. It pertains to planning data only, and that way it easier for someone to find the most up to date trip information.

This is my last posting in this thread as such, as it is actually in a planning thread and has become hard to stay on topic, since the original question that was asked, was...."Is there going to be another Michigan Hang and when?"

I'm in for anywhere, anytime, backpacking or static hang. I will put my two cents in and offer up the Manistee River Trail as an option. Seaton Creek campground at trailhead offers rustic camping yards from the trailhead giving the option of a static hang, a loop hike on the Manistee River Trail and North Country Trail or out n back on the MRT which is the more scenic of the two. No Ranger Rick's to contend with, strictly self registered and not patrolled. It's an out of the way spot perfect for a hang. West off 37 north of 55 near Brethren, MI...Bush

If I new more about the manistee river trail and the rest of the trail system I would. But I was actually good with the initial idea of second week of Oct. Maybe even third.
