    Wannabe Hammocker in Kansas City

Hello all. My name is George and I live in Kansas City. My hobbies are backpacking and riding my motorcycle. An excellent weekend is when I get to do both. After spending most of my time sleeping on the ground I thought I would take my act into the trees. That is why I am here, to learn to hang and then to learn some more.

Welcome George, you have found your way to the right place to learn about hammocks and hammock hanging. Check out Shug's Newbie video series he packs a wealth of information into them and entertains you to boot.

Welcome to the forum! You'll learn everything you need to here about hanging (and then some!). That's how most of us started.

I'm not too far from you myself. Keep an eye open, as we've started having group hangs in the MO/AR/OK area. Love to have you join us at one and you can really learn the ropes.

And then, really soon, you'll be teaching us new things!!!!

Hey all. Thanks for the warm welcome! It is exciting to be here, this site has a plethora of information.

@Bama - Man, I envy you. I have yet to make a trip to Sturgis (I am still young though ).

@BurningCedar - I would love to join you all on a trip. Do you plan using the boards here? How could I get information? Thx.

Yup; just watch the forums. We had a really great hang last spring on the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Probably around 10-12 folks showed up. There's been some talk of a fall trip somewhere and hopefully the spring trip on the Buffalo will become an every-year event.

First we gotta get past these 110-120* heat indexes we got going on right now. This is nuts! Can't wait for fall.

No kidding! Thermometer in the car read 104* today.

I am going to the Buffalo River next spring myself. If all works out maybe I can schedule my trip with the group here.
