Hammock Stand - Distance Between Upright Ends

As I don't have a super-duper tarp yet I don't know how much room to leave to properly stretch one out. I know they vary from tarp to tarp but hey, I have to go with something.

I'm seeing the distance between the top of the hammock stand uprights being 12' or 13' apart, is that what most of you are going with?

I like 14' to 17' as 'ideal' distances between mounts, but have used 12' on many occasions. Just tough with larger tarps.
    Trust nobody!

i made my stand extra long....mine is over 16 foot long at the top of the uprights.....this way i can use any hammock or tarp with it
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
