    Just getting started

    Hey everyone,

I'm in the market for a hammock. I do a lot of canoe camping and backpacking, and I'm looking for something other than a tent. Tents are great, but hanging in the tree and got me intrigued. I'm just starting to research hammock and as of right now I'm leaning towards the Clark hammocks (not sure which model). I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from this forum, and then making my purchase for next year's camping season.
Thanks in advance for your help in my purchase.

    Chris

    First, Welcome to HF!
Second, In regards to which hammock to get? You mention a Clark, which many love the Clarks! It's pretty much pick a hammock that suits you, I know it sounds strange or rude, but, that is it really! Find the hammocks that will work with your weight, then narrow it down by price and feature's! Next if the one you are deciding on doesn't come with a tarp throw that back into the mix of price, and eventually you will find something! If you are considering a Hennessy Hammock I would try and wait until October then send them an email asking for their demo sale list, reason is you can get a great hammock at a super low price! Thats how I got my HH Hyperlite, cost for it is 230$ or so, and I got it for 140$ because it was a demo, they inspect, certify, and warranty it like it was new! Just an option for ya!!??

Welcome fellow Canuck! I have a Clark from years ago but I find my Warbonnet Blackbird is more comfortable. You'll get a lot of recommendations for it as it is probably the most popular hammock here. It is made by a forum member and it is comfy, well designed and made. Check out Brandon (the maker) setting it up here.

Welcome! Also good to check the For Sale forum here. Every once in a while there are some really good deals.

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome.

I was wondering if anyone lives in the Ottawa area that has a Clark, and is willing to let me see it before I purchase one. I'm leaning towards the NX-150 with the XL trap, but I'd like to see one before I buy.

sk8trs_dad and Kasuko are in Ottawa. They are both going to the Ontario Hang at Bon Echo Park. details here: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=19717
Like me they both have Warbonnet Blackbirds but maybe others going may have a Clark.
