    Army Poncho Tarp?

Sorry for this super newb ( or is it noob) question. For those of you using a pancho for a tarp, what do you do with the hood?

I'm sure I'm missing something easy, but wouldn't it just let water run in?

Be gentile, I'm a new guy...............

Shoot, there is a pic on here somewhere where I think the hood opening was tied shut.

I've done this many times -- it's my preferred lightweight option for a tarp/rain gear. I just pull the drawstring on the hood tight and then wrap it around the hood a few times and secure with a clove hitch. I'll post some images shortly.

Or gooseneck it. Pull it tight-this should make the hood into roughly a column. Now roll the column the long way. You will only get a couple rolls in. Then, turn the top down, twisting it once on the way down. Essentially, doubling it on itself. Then, tie a clove hitch around it, and you're done. It sounds a whole lot more difficult than it is...if it takes more than 20 seconds, you did it wrong

Just a warning, I tried out the Army poncho as a tarp in a light rain and it worked out great. However, since it is not square, you'll have one side of the hammock head and the opposite side of the hammock foot not well protected. With a stiff breeze, you'll get wet in the rain. Just be sure to lie on the better protected angle.

On a positive note, I was able to see the stars much better than with my standard tarp. That is, until the clouds rolled in.

the poncho was and will be agian my spring
    and summer rain cover.
just as said earlier pull tight twist wrap done.
you can use it corner to corner or on the long
axes but it will need tobe lower to the hommock.
