    Greetings from Kentucky

    Hello everyone!

I just got back from the land of no hammocks (Mongolia) where I've discovered a penchant for sleeping outside, and after spending a memorial day food coma in a friend's ENO singlenest I decided to get a doublenest. I'm heading out to Red River Gorge in a couple of weeks to hang it up for a couple of nights.

I've already found a ton of ideas for what I want to do to my hammock here, and I'm really thankful to everyone who's shared ideas, pictures and videos of their own little custom setups. I used to barely manage my shoes, but I no longer fear the knot and look forward to upgrading my slapstraps and carabiner to something else!

HI, i see you from the land of no-hiking as well! Kentucky is like a peninsula just far enough away from all the good hiking spots of the SE to be cumbersome to drive. The gorge is fun, the western border of NC is good, big south fork...Where do you hike?

I haven't been around here really, I didn't grow up hiking and only started while I lived in Philadelphia where I hiked around Wissahickon creek and environs. About the only really local place I've hiked is Raven Run, though that's something you can do five times in a day if you like.

I've taken a few ecology classes that have taken me out to places like Robinson Forest and the gorge before, but the only thing that was overnight had us in the cabins at Robinson.

Welcome to Hammock Forums! The Red River Gorge and the Clifty Wilderness are beautiful places to hang. Take a lot of pictures while you're there!
