    WTB: 4-season/winter backpacking tent

Yeah, yeah... I know. A tent. I may have need of a solid winter tent so I've been bumming around the net for a couple of days with nothing to show for it. Have a seen a couple of possibilities on eBay, but I'm worried about buying from unknown sources like that.
Also I'm not willing to drop big $$$ on something that might get used for one trip.
That said, I'm looking for a small (1-2 person), solid 4 season tent that would stand up to wind and snow.
Did I mention I'm looking for cheap? I'm hoping someone here who has taken 100% to the trees might have one lying forgotten in a gear closet somewhere...

For just one trip, maybe someone would rent one to you.

I considered that, but I think having such a thing in my gear collection is worthwhile, "just in case".

Thanks for the offer! But... I actually own that tent It's a solid little 3-season tent, I take it to family gathering for the kids to use. I know it's solid in moderate winter conditions, so in a pinch I could use it.
I'm looking for something a little more targeted toward dedicated winter use, such as a used Big Agnes String Ridge or a REI Mountain 2. A three or more pole design suitable for heavy snow load and possible higher winds.

Price is sort of relative to what it is. Definitely trying to stay well under $200, which is why I was hoping to shop used. Finding a quality 4 season tent new at anywhere under $300 is almost impossible.

Anyway, I'm in no rush. Just putting the feelers out there while doing regular scans of eBay, craigslist, Gear Trade, etc.

It's that thing that you used to camp in before you discovered hammocks, and is now sitting forgotten in your gear closet and you want to sell to me cheap!

At the risk of throwing my own trhead off topic, I just want to mention that I asked my 10 year old daughter if she'd like to go out for an overnighter in the tent (the place had no trees) and she responded with "Why can't we use the hammocks? I don't want to sleep in the tent!"
She used to love tents until she got her Scout.

    Cool!
Now we need to convince her dad that tenting isn't the way to go
