One thing I noticed when I added myself, all of the balloons are not visible. Only the ones on the current page displayed on the left hand side. Perhaps I am missing something, but it threw me off at first because I didn't think it was saving my location. However, it was I was just on the wrong page.

I was on the map (kind of, but the baloon was quite a ways from my town) for awhile, but now I can't find it at all. I can't seem to get anywhere with updating or even finding myself again. Is the map kind of a lost cause, or am I just not smart enough to figure out how to work it?

Let me take a look, waddy...

Okay... not sure what was going on, but I put your marker by the Chamber of Commerce. Hope that's okay.

    You're on page 3, btw.

Thanks frawg. I found myself, now if I could just remember who I am!

One thing I still can't figure out is why I only see two baloons on the larger scaled maps of Colorado. Is there any way to look at a state or area and see the other hangers? I realize that not all of them have put themselves on the map, but I know there are more than just a couple of Colo. hangers. Thanks for your time, and I apologize for being so dense. This map deal is kicking my butt I still love my maps and appreciate what you're doing.

No worries, Waddy! Other guys (originally headchange4u) did the heavy lifting here long before I started helping out.

Unfortunately, with GoogleMaps you have to look at each individual page to see all the hangers in the data base. ...and we're now up to 4 pages. It's a real PITA, but I don't know any workarounds. I'm looking for enlightenment on that myself.

    Cheers!

I think I can help out with this project if you like.

I do web design for a living and would be more than happy to write some code to put this database on a google map for you. I'd even host it (or give the code to hammock forum to host if you wish)

Here is an example of the google API with 500 data-points (randomly placed) on it. Can easily do many many more.

I'd suggest all PHP with MySQL database of points and a webform to enter new locations by Lat / Lon. We could do higher tech interface too but not sure if this is needed.

Great ideas, XexorZ! I like a PHP/MySQL solution, too. I'm pretty rusty at it, though, and have never touched the Google API. All I've been doing is use the fat-finger interface to drag icons to the right location.

The map is actually headchange4u's baby, so you might bounce the idea off him. I'm all for it. I would like a peek at the code, though, if you do it. I like to learn by looking over the shoulder of someone who knows what they're doing.

    Cheers!
