Hi! New member in Hunterdon Cty, NJ

Hi all,

I recently rediscovered my love for hiking and camping. It's been about a dozen years since I did any (non-car) camping, and the only negative things I can remember about those trips all related to overweight, uncomfortable gear. This time around I'm looking for better gear to make it even more fun. I first heard about hammock camping when researching lightweight hiking, and it sounds like my style.

I'm definitely interested in checking it out in person and hopefully getting some idea of what I want/need before I go out and buy anything :-) To that end I'll be attending the MAHHA hang in Oct (hopefully, bringing the wife along as well). Looking forward to meeting some of you there and checking out the different rigs!

Yup. I am one of those Jersey people as well... You should also try to make it to the NJ hang in January

Hmm... I didn't know about that one yet, that sounds like it could be fun, as long as I gear up properly for winter camping :-D I'll keep that in mind when I'm at MAHHA and looking over rigs.

Welcome Jay!
I'm new myself. I had some existing hammock stuff and just spent the last month completing (sort of) my gear. I'm from just over the border in the Lehigh Valley of PA. I think I pass your area on my way to my in-laws (Lincoln Park and Nutley) when I punch up I-287 from I-78.

Cool - I'm a few miles from 78 Exit 24, on 22 East. If you're going up to 287 from 78 then you're passing our exit :-) Hopefully I'll catch up with you at the MAHHA hang or one of the NJ hangs!
