Whoopie Sling (Dynaglide) weight vs WBBB Strap (Actual weights)

    Hello All

Just thought I'd post up some weights from the weekend after swaping out the stock strap suspension on my WBBB 1.1 double.

Might be of interest to some ?? I'm sure it's already been posted before but here it is again in hard numbers.

Weight's are for one end only - not both straps together.

The WBBB strap with a Warbonnet Carabiner was 136 grams (or 4.8 oz)

The Dynaglide 6' whoopie sling, 6' tree strap, soft shackle and a home made aluminium arrow shaft 2" long toggle (Eastern 2213) was only 56 grams (or 1.97 oz).

So all up swapping out the stock suspension for the dynaglide whoopies saved a total of 160 grams (5.64 oz) for the pair, Cool

    toggles

Hey , I thought I would share this with you cause I see you are using arrow shafts for a toggle. I don't know how you store yours but I kind of stuffed then in with the straps , whoopies, and the hammock, But one day I was hanging my hammock and noticed that the toggle pinched my hammock, not to the point where it went threw or damaged the sill, but noticeable anyway... So I now use two small wooden dowels for the marlin spike knot..
Again just for info sake that's all. WATCH OUT HOW YOU STORE THE TOGGLES.

    Safety over weight for manufacturers

Thank you for the numbers, that helps with my lack of interest in carrying a WBBB.

Manufacturers have to supply a suspension that is safe for every purchaser. Each hammock customer can assemble a suspension that suits their hang weight and packed weight.

My car does not have the same model of tires on it as when it left the factory, nor do my hammocks have the factory suspension.

    Toggle storage

Yeh thanks for that info about storing the toggles.

I had figured I'd put them and my pegs in my pack not wrapped with the tarp and hammock.
Jees wouldn't that be nice to find a big hole ripped in the hammock or tarp out bush...
