MSH and MSG are funny and I should have figured them out due to the obvious context of the discussion but must have been very sleepy. This is why it would be helpful for these to be added to the official list of abreviations so new folks don't need to scroll through all this. I was not even able to find the definition using search tools, which are not great at HF.

I think an acronyms list and the use of acronyms should be confined to those commonly used on HF and not to every one we can think up...no matter how obscure.

These would be extremely useful if the backend system would query the list every time it came across two, three or four capitalized letter/number combinations and inserted html acronym tags automatically.

If it's "commonly used" shouldn't it be on the list? It took me a long, frustrating time to figure out that MSH is Marlin Spike Hitch.

FWIW (for what it's worth), asking what something stands for usually gets a quick answer without having to wait for a volunteer to update a list.

Even then, it will be at the volunteers discretion what makes the list. One thing I'm sure of is that the list will not include acronyms for every product made so ask away when you want to know.
