CCF Pad Pocket for an ENO DoubleNest?

Let me preface this by saying that I have next to no sewing skills right now.
A friend of mine has offered to teach me, so I should be up for some basic stuff in the near future.
What I want to do is sew a pocket onto my ENO DoubleNest for a CCF pad.
Plan to get away from the ground dwellers and start hammock camping with my son's Scout troop this fall and winter. Will use an UQ for the colder stuff, but the CCF should be OK for a lot of the time here.
My plan is to use regular 1.1 or 1.9 ripstop and sew it in on the outside along the seam that is already there on the DN where they change colored fabrics so as not to put extra holes or a stress line in the material.
I figure I need to make the added material slightly wider than the ENO material so compensate for stretch.
Any suggestions or things I might have missed on this idea?

I've learned tons of stuff from this forum, and playing with the Amsteel line is a new hobby for me now!

    Thanks,
    David K. Perdue

Are you planning to sew the pad in line with the hammock? The reason I ask is a lot of people prefer to lay on the diagonal, especially in a wide hammock like the double nest. The hammocks I've seen with a place to put the pad don't have a pad pocket per say, they are double layer so that you can put position the pad where you need it.

Instead of sewing a pad holder into the hammock you might want to consider a SPE (segmented pad extender) http://www.tothewoods.net/HomemadeGearSPE.html. Then you can move the pad to right where you want it.

More of a double layer than a pocket I would guess.
But the 2nd layer is more just to hold the pad in place rather than provide additional support for me.
I looked at some of the modified pads like the SPE. and would definitely go with something wider than the standard GI issue CCF pad Sgt Rock started with.
Stitching would be along the seam, and would cover the blue portion in the attached picture where the blue material is.

Or you could make a small DIY hammock with a pocket for really cheap, then hang it underneath the ENO so you dont have to risk tearing up the DN.
